Art Business Planning - Artist-How-To

As part of the ongoing ‘Free Lessons and Tutorials’ there is now a page with links directing you to useful examples of business plans, open source software and general business topics.

http://artist-how-to.com/importantlinks.html

Don’t miss “The Craft of Planning Your Art Business: Clear Worksheets and Directions on Creating The Working Artist Business Plan” to get a jump on your ability to not rely directly on your day job to make ends meet. With more and more businesses laying off and cutting back, it has never been a better time to start your own business doing what you love to do!

http://artist-how-to.com/ArtBusinessPlaneBook.htm

Here in Kansas it is storming tonight. So far we have been fortunate and missed out on tornadoes and any damaging hail. (fingers crossed). But, with the bad weather comes an excuse to stay inside and create. So be on the lookout for images of new art soon.

Question: What has 4469 and 37 subscribers?

Answer: This blog and Kansas Region of ScriptFrenzy http://www.scriptfrenzy.org/
----------
The problem with the site seems to not be the host, but somewhere between them and myself that the connection went wacky. But all seems well now. I tend to blame the weather; it was so windy we had power outages in the region.

Sale, Contest and Update Artist-How-To.com

Our sale is still going on until May 14th so be sure to take advantage of it while you still can!
http://www.artist-how-to.com/

Also be on the look out for contest in these Blog Posts. I want to give things away at least once a month.
---------
New Lessons
---------
The new 'lesson' is not so much a lesson as a 'helper'. It is an example of a 'Model Release Form'.

The second is an update of a previously posted lesson on Making A Mold with polymer clay. You can find both HERE

Links of Interest

The first link is more of a personal one than art related. Since my last post a devastating tornado hit here in Kansas at Greensburg. I am sure you have all heard about it. These pics begin to show the destruction of the storm.

The next one is one that I am still wondering about. Some of you may recall me talking about NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month) last fall. Well, this June they branched out and began a Script Writing Program. You can find out more information at ScriptFrenzy.org

http://www.scriptfrenzy.org/

I am still wondering if I will participate. I was a part of NANOWRIMO for the previous two years, and this last year was a Municipal Liaison. Which just means I set up a place for writers to meet in my area, and I was in charge of herding them. The Script writing sounds interesting but I just do not know if I will be able to take the time to do it or not. Although it is only 20,000 words instead of 50,000......hmmmm

If it is ANYWHERE near as well run as NANOWRIMO if you are even thinking about it and have never done such a thing before I would strongly recommend it!
----------
oh and btw the first person to leave a post here on the blog, gets their choice of a free e-book!
OK, now HURRY!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!! To all you moms!!!!

Please keep the emails coming to let me know what you would like to have offered :0)

New Photography E-Book On Sale!

"Black and White with a 35mm SLR Camera"

Broken into five areas, you can order each section alone, or save $7.00 and but them all at one time.

More information on purchasing them all in one package can be found HERE.

I put these together after teaching Photography at an area college for many years. During that time I found it difficult to find an inexpensive text I could use in a classroom setting that was straightforward and simple to understand.

You don't have an SLR camera? The basic photography information transfers over so that you will have the knowledge needed to use your digital camera with a new confidence!

This past week the weather has permitted e to get the garden started. Along with the standard vegetable fair I will be including items we artists can use for create purposes.

Yes, this i an image of the garden area. Initially I thought that 450 sq feet would be enough, but after dividing the area up on paper, I will need to add to it.

FYI after planting a few seeds, about 1/3 of the space, I am sore in areas that I forgot I had. (Back of hand on forehead) Oh how an artist must suffer for their work ;0)

Artist-How-To.com Class Inquiry

Recently, I have been throwing around the idea of offering online classes through the site. I need to know if folks would be interested. If you are please contact me at bartonstudio@cox.net. If possible include the types of classes you would like to see, if you would like to teach or participate in a class, or just say ‘Heck YEA!” to let us know you would like to see us pursue it further.

http://www.artist-how-to.com/class is where the class area is currently located, and a few ideas of possible classes can be seen.
